Practice Makes Perfect

i take my cues from the words of Henry Miller
he has taught me the stuff of life common
that the burden of self was easily carried
by flooding each experience with ideas

there are very few questions found in his work
there is no room for them, what with his hunger
for all pleasures he found due from existence
plying art as the bond between known & unknown

Paris, Greece, Big Sur : these are only places
read his portrayal of Matisse in Tropic of Cancer
tell me you have never felt the world slip away
when art confronts its creator
