I Found This Sonnet

DSC02029I look to your eyes to discover their color
then lose myself in your glance, where I lapse
into a temporary failure of concentration.
The song of your voices inflection has the form
of a musical note and as if I had never known of desire,
and by simply wishing for tomorrow, I will become strong
in poems — aiming for line.
This ritual inspection is then interrupted by rhyme,
then lost to free fall from this plane
to areas unknown, surrounded by hummingbirds.
Touch leading to taste then to touch again.
I will write of the silence found behind nature
and continue my arguments ‘neath the stars
in the gentle comfort of your company.
